When reading this, it seems as if human trafficking as a form of slavery will never cease. With those being violated turning into the violators, it seems impossible to stop the trend. Even if some are saved from this lifestyle, they may return to become the traffickers. One would think that human empathy would allow those being violated to feel for the others and try to save them rather than harm them.
I agree. I don't understand why someone would want to lure another human into something they themselves had to bare going through. I suppose when your so use to living that way, human characteristics seem to fade away.
I agree also. One would think that they would have human empathy for people that are in the same situation that they once were. I think these people return to that lifestyle because without it they have nothing;no money, no education, and no help with medical bills. Instead of living that way they turn back to trafficking and not wanting to be a victim anymore they become the abuser to get back the power they loss when they were the victim.
It is absolutely ridiculous for these people to go through such hardship and pain, and not get any support whatsoever. They have no choice but to go back to these traffickers, because where else can they turn if slavery is all they know. What kind of society do we live in that allows this to happen? Our government spends money on trying to rehabilitate broken countries, but when will the slaves go free?
After reading this, I kept thinking that this cycle of slave-to-slaver is really similar to the domestic abuse cycle. A child who grew up in an abusive household is incredibly likely to abuse their own children. Since they grew up with it they think its normal. Our world view is shaped by our experience, and if we experience dehumanization, it will form a part of our world view. Whether we become violently opposed to it, or view as normal, which is sadly more often the case.
